The following are Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
of Greater Chicago guidelines regarding requests for information under the
Freedom of Information Act, effective July 1, 1984.

Request
must be specific. |
|
|
Name of person requesting information, company, agency, group or
club name, address and phone number must be stated. |
|
|
According to the Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1): “This Act is
not intended to be used to violate individual privacy, nor for the
purpose of furthering a commercial enterprise, or to disrupt the
duly-undertaken work of any public body independent of the fulfillment
of any of the fore-mentioned rights of the people to access
information.” |

Fee Schedule for Duplication of Public Records

| If the total fee in
connection with a request is less than $1.50 (10 pages), there shall be
no charge for the request. |
|
|
| Individuals
requesting records shall be charged for all duplication fees greater
than $1.50. A postage fee will also be included. The fee must be paid in
advance of the request being processed. |
|
|
| Payment of fees
must be made by check or money order payable to the Metropolitan Water
Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and sent to the attention of the
Treasury Department. Once the payment has been received, the materials
will be immediately forwarded to the requestor. |

|
|
According to 5 ILCS 140/6 (b), “Documents shall be furnished without
charge or at a reduced charge, as determined by the public body, if the
person requesting the documents states the specific purpose for the
request and indicates that a waiver or reduction of the fee is in the
public interest. Waiver or reduction of the fee is in the public
interest if the principal purpose of the request is to access and
disseminate information regarding the health, safety and welfare or the
legal rights of the general public and is not for the principal purpose
of personal or commercial benefit.” |

If
a waiver or reduction of fees is granted based on the statutory
guidelines, the first 100 pages of information will be reproduced free
of charge. |
|
|
| The Metropolitan
Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago will periodically update
and adjust these fees to reflect the actual cost of reproduction of
records to the MWRDGC. |
