CSO Monitoring and Reporting Plan

In accordance with Special Condition 10.11 of the Calumet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit No. IL0028061, effective March 1, 2002, the following plan is being submitted for monitoring the frequency and duration of the discharge from select, representative CSO outfalls authorized in the permits and for all other CSO outfalls connected to TARP, for which the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) has the ability to monitor through telemetry.
The fifty (50) CSO outfalls listed below will be monitored as required in SC 10.11. They include all CSOs for which the District has the ability to monitor through telemetry. This revision includes those additional relief points now on-line since the completion of the TARP Calumet Leg Tunnel, which are provided with monitoring capability.
The District will document the frequency and duration of CSOs through the outfalls listed below along with an estimate of storm duration and total rainfall for each storm event. The District will continue to monitor these designated CSO outfalls at all times unless the telemetry is out of service due to malfunction or routine maintenance. The results of the monitoring will be submitted to the IEPA by November 15th of each year.
