"MWRD seeks participants in Community Partnership Council," Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is seeking volunteers to join the Community Partnership Council for 2026–2028.
Flossmoor is in MWRD’s service area. Homewood is served by Thorn Creek Basin Sanitary District.
The council will help shape initiatives that support environmental stewardship, equity and engagement and enable members to be a voice for their communities.
Members will:
• Learn about current MWRD programs, priorities, and projects.
• Share perspective on community needs.
• Collaborate on outreach strategies and partnerships.
“As we continue our mission to protect public health and the environment, community insight remains essential,” the agency said in a social media post. “Your voice helps strengthen the connection between MWRD initiatives and the residents, businesses, and organizations we serve.”
The Community Partnership Council meets quarterly during standard business hours for a two-year cohort. Sessions are held at various locations throughout the Cook County. Each session lasts approximately two hours, and council members are asked to participate in at least six of the eight sessions.
The Community Partnership Council is designed to provide a space for the general public to learn and share ideas.
We encourage elected officials to attend Watershed Planning Council meetings to offer input on local stormwater needs and opportunities.
